Alice Birney Elementary, an International Studies Magnet School, is a California Distinguished School located in the heart of University Heights. Embedded into every classroom, for every student at Birney is an IB curriculum designed to nurture the whole person. The curriculum features six transdisciplinary themes that empowers students to engage with each other, as well as the world around them, through the process of inquiry, action, and reflection. The IB curriculum promotes an IB learner profile designed to “help individuals and groups become responsible members of local, national and global communities.” Birney Bee’s understand the value of the IB learner profile and strive to embody these attributes every day!
