Dia De Los Muertos Ofrenda
All students celebrated Dia de los Muertos, or Day of the Dead (Nov 1-2), in their Spanish classes with Señora Goudy. The Kindergarten and 1st graders colored sugar skull drawings. The 2nd and 3rd graders drew their own ofrendas, or altars. The 4th and 5th graders learned about Mexican folk art and how it is used in celebration of the holiday by creating “Papel picado”, an elaborate, decorative craft. All of these creations were used to decorate their Dia de los Muertos ofrenda (shown above). The students were proud to show their hard work when I visited their classrooms this month.
