THANK YOU BIRNEY COMMUNITY!!!

We want to offer a HUGE thank you to all the Birney families, local businesses, and Birney staff members who have come together to provide a wonderful year of community, fun, and education! Every year we build upon the year before to grow stronger and more vital. It could not be done without each and every one of you!

We are pleased to report that with our collaborative efforts we were able to support all 550 Birney Bees and ensure the continuation of the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (IB PYP) at Birney by raising a record setting…

$129, 347

The IB PYP is a highly sought-after framework that encourages academic and personal development for all students. The funds raised by FOABE allow the continuation of this IB curriculum in the following ways:

IB Certification, Spanish Class, Art Class, Garden Class, Assemblies, Field Trips, Attendance Recognition, Collaboration time for all teaching teams, & IB Educational Materials

Alice Birney Elementary, an International Studies Magnet School, is a California Distinguished School located in the heart of University Heights. Embedded into every classroom, for every student at Birney is an IB curriculum designed to nurture the whole person. The curriculum features six transdisciplinary themes that empowers students to engage with each other, as well as the world around them, through the process of inquiry, action, and reflection. The IB curriculum promotes an IB learner profile designed to “help individuals and groups become responsible members of local, national and global communities.” Birney Bee’s understand the value of the IB learner profile and strive to embody these attributes every day!
